However, the most widely known cause of hair loss is so-called male pattern baldness - and this manifests itself most commonly among men. Although hair loss is more often than not hereditary, it can prove extremely distressing and embarrassing for many people. At Q Clinic we are able to offer a range of treatments designed either to slow the rate of hair loss or to help replace lost hair entirely. There are a number of ways in which you can combat balding, making you look - and feel - younger. List of treatments 1 Topical Minoxidil Lotion- Known to be effective in only 20% of patients. This can be used to best effect at the early signs of hair loss. It helps to control dihydrotestosterone (DHT) levels that affect hair growth. Ongoing application of the treatment is required to maintain optimum results.. 2 Oral Finasteride (Propecia Tablet)- This is among the latest developments in hair retention, which can be used in conjunction with the lotion. This treatment helps to promote the growth of healthy hair, as well as slowing the rate of existing hair loss. This is available in tablet form and is known to be effective in 70% of patients. 3 Surgery- To replace hair already lost, we can use one of the two state-of-the-art surgical techniques. These are as follows: A) micro-grafting Surgery B) Flap and Slot correction Surgery The surgery involves the relocation of hair follicles from one area of the head to another. Follicles will be moved from an area of your head not affected by DHT levels - usually the back or sides - into the area of hair loss.
